The only point guard the Los Angeles Lakers will trade D’Angelo Russell for is Atlanta Hawks starFinally, the Lakers will trade D’Angelo Russell for Hawks point guard Dejounte Murray. Dejounte Murray, according to NBA insider Jovan Buha of The Athletic.
The Portland Trail Blazers’ Malcolm Brogdon, the Washington Wizards’ Tyus Jones, or the Brooklyn Nets’ Spencer Dinwiddie are the only guards for whom the Lakers will not trade Russell.
According to team sources, Buha stated, “The Lakers view trades in which they move Russell for players like Malcolm Brogdon of Portland, Tyus Jones of Washington, or Spencer Dinwiddie of Brooklyn as lateral moves at best, and most likely downgrades.” Murray, as previously mentioned, is an exception. The Lakers may also attempt to close a few gaps by sending Russell out of a trade that returns two players (perhaps a wing and a point guard). In the event that negotiations between the Lakers and Hawks are not renewed, or if Murray is traded, the likelihood of Russell staying a Laker approaches fifty percent.
The Lakers have attempted to acquire Murray by trading Russell to the Hawks. Two weeks ago, negotiations between the two teams were almost complete when they broke down.
