Funeral services are scheduled for Michael Lee “Cubb” Cubbage, a former Major League Baseball (MLB) player, coach, and scout, who passed away on August 10, 2024, at the age of 74 in Seneca, South Carolina. Born in Charlottesville, Virginia, Cubbage began his athletic journey at the University of Virginia, where he played third base for the Cavaliers baseball team and served as the football team’s quarterback during his freshman year. After declining a draft offer in his senior year of high school, he accepted an offer from the Washington Senators, later known as the Texas Rangers, during his sophomore year at UVA. Following his playing career, Cubbage transitioned into coaching and scouting roles.
