Breaking News:Oklahoma Sooners guard entering the transfer portal

OKLAHOMA Sooner

Guard Duke Miles, who started all 34 games this season, will enter the transfer portal. Miles is the fourth OU basketball player to enter the portal since the season ended, but he was the most significant part of the Sooners’ rotation.

Miles averaged 9.4 points in his first and only season after transferring from High Point, a drop in points per game from the season before.

The difference was less a reflection on Miles, who shot better from 3-point range and the free-throw line than it was on his usage. With High Point in 2023-24, Miles averaged 12 field-goal attempts per game. At OU, that number was six per game. His game at OU was balance. In addition to the solid, if unspectacular scoring, Miles chipped in 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He was a solid secondary scoring option for the Sooners with Jeremiah Fears serving as the Sooners’ primary ball handler.

Miles will seek a sixth year of college basketball. He played three seasons at Troy in his home state of Alabama before hitting the transfer portal and landing at High Point. Miles played a season for the Panthers ahead of his one season at Oklahoma, where he was the most effective of the seven players coach Porter Moser brought in as transfers last season.
