Hernandez agreed to sign another contract with the Mets.

Keith Hernandez wants to stay around for the Mets’ future because he is really interested in it.

In a recent interview with Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman on The Post’s baseball podcast “The Show,” Hernandez said that he was curious about Steve Cohen becoming the Mets’ new owner.

Hernandez stated, “Well, I think with the new ownership, I’m very curious about how this thing is going to turn out with the Me.

I will stay a little while longer because it is a new era. I play 110 games. It would be easy peasy if I lived in the city, but I have an 86-mile drive, which is a little rough. However, I don’t mind and am not grumbling. I’m passionate about what I do. I adore this game.

Hernandez, who was apparently looking for a pay increase from the $775,000 he was making on his last contract, inked a new three-year contract this past February
