Hull City are facing a transfer battle with Championship rivals Swansea City to sign 6ft 4ins striker Eduvie Ikoba, according to reports in the national media.
Ikoba currently plies his trade in Hungary with Zalaegerszeg and having bagged 11 goals in 22 games last season, his form has seen him attract interest from clubs in England ahead of the window closing on September 1.
According to the Daily Mail, the Hungarian outfit want a fee in the region of £500,000 to do a deal for the 25-year-old who was born in Iowa but holds joint citizenship with the USA and Nigeria.
The powerful frontman played College football in his early career before being picked up in the MLS Superdraft by FC Dallas but did not earn a contract and was subsequently released, going to Hungarian football and then onto Slovakia before joining Zalaegerszeg where he’s been since last summer, signing a contract until June 2025.
As it stands, City have three frontline strikers on their books following the arrival of Aaron Connolly, with the Republic of Ireland making his second Tigers debut at Norwich City on Saturday.
On loan Manchester City ace Liam Delap bagged his first goal for the club at Carrow Road and was later replaced by last season’s leading marksman Oscar Estupinan.
The Tigers boss is thought to be content with his striking options, but working hard on adding more options out wide and in the number 10 position.
