Doncaster Rovers chief Grant McCann has praised Hull City youngster Tom Nixon after the defender delivered an impressive first showing against Sheffield Wednesday.
Nixon, who will spend the season on loan with the League Two promotion hopefuls, found himself up against Wednesday’s Wembley hero Josh Windass on Tuesday evening. But he kept the forward quiet throughout the evening at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Wednesday, who will provide City with the opposition in their first MKM Stadium league outing of the season two weeks on Saturday, failed to muster a single effort on goal, with new Owls boss Xisco Munoz seeing his side beaten 1-0 by McCann’s men.
The 20-year-old will battle Jamie Sherry and Charlie Seaman for a place in McCann’s side this term. His competent showing against City’s Yorkshire rivals certainly impressed McCann, having caught the eye in pre-season prior to his move to the south of the county.
