Yes, I hope so” – Ibrahima Konaté responds to links to Ibrahim Konaté reacts to links to Khephren Thuram with “Yes, I hope so.”n Thuram
Ibrahima Konaté has revealed he ‘hopes’ Liverpool will sign reported target Khephren Thuram this summer.
The Reds have already taken steps to strengthen the center of the park ahead of next season, with the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton set to be the first of several signings in the coming weeks.
Thuram is one of many names linked with Anfield in the transfer window, including Manu Kone, Ryan Gravenberch and Gabri Veiga.
Both Konate and Thuram are currently on international duty for France, with the latter preparing to take part in the European Under-21 Championship which kicks off next week.
Konaté Thuram as a “little brother” in an interview earlier this week. The Liverpool No.5 has since admitted he would like to see the Nice midfielder alongside Jurgen Klopp. During an interview with Telefoot, Konate was asked a number of audacious questions, including whether or not he would like to see Thuram in a Liverpool shirt next season.
The defender’s emphatic but firm response was: “Yes, I hope so.”
Thuram has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks as Klopp looks to round out his midfield options for next season.
If reports are to be believed, the 22-year-old is at the top of the Reds shopping list, with claims earlier this week suggesting he has been “seduced” by Liverpool.
A possible deal to bring the player to Merseyside is unlikely to be forthcoming, with Thuram hoping to go deep into the Under-21 European Championships in Georgia and Romania.
Klopp’s first players will return to the AXA Training Center on July 8, but the manager insisted he plans to give each player a three-week break before returning to the season. Thuram’s progress with France Under-21 is likely to affect his official start date with the Reds, but all the current excitement suggests Anfield remains a likely destination for the midfielder.
