Injury Report: Phil Hay relays another major injury blow and Required immediate medical attention…

Leeds lost out to Boubacar Traore’s 85th minute goal, after Jesse Marsch had fielded a young side with as many as 10 changes from the team that beat AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.

Gelhardt was offered a start up-front, but lasted only 54 minutes before stretching awkwardly to reach a Jack Harrison cross.

Rene Maric was on-hand to provide updates from a Leeds perspective post-match, with Phil Hay of The Athletic relaying an update on Gelhardt to Twitter.

“Maric unable to update on Gelhardt yet, too soon to say how bad his injury is.”

The 2022/23 campaign has been a frustrating one for Gelhardt so far, with the 20-year-old struggling to build on what was a breakout campaign the year before.

Jesse Marsch has offered the striker only one start in the Premier League and 161 minutes in total from 10 appearances.

This is another irritating little injury for Leeds.

The timing isn’t too bad in that the World Cup break is now on the horizon and Leeds might only end up without Gelhardt for one fixture (Tottenham on Saturday) if the setback isn’t too bad.

However, the irritation probably comes for Gelhardt.

Looking at the squad last night, it was there for him to play 90 minutes and make a difference in a game for Leeds that they were fully in at the point he went off.

That kind of night could’ve kickstarted the season for him but, unfortunately, it’s not worked out like that.
