Despite having a lot of skill, the Dallas Cowboys have a history of missing the playoffs. Many fans have instead blamed off-field problems for their postseason struggles.
The idea that the organization has a “culture issue” has been one particularly common talking point. Every critique that can be thought of for the Cowboys has already been said a thousand times over, whether it is about a general lack of mental toughness or a lack of accountability.
However, that idea is absolutely absurd to those who are within. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones flatly refuted the notion that the team had a “culture issue” while speaking to media at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
“We are pleased with our culture from the top down. I’ll tell you what, you constantly want to improve,” Jones remarked. “Everyone (wants to) be the last man standing in the end if their outcomes aren’t winning the Super Bowl.
“But all things considered, I believe that our team’s leadership is exceptional, both organizationally and in terms of our coach and personnel department. You can be sure that someone will always have something to say.
“You know, if it’s not, it might be their specific way of thinking about why we might fail. But in my opinion, it’s not a problem.
