Jesse Holley on Cowboys, “People Aren’t Beating Down the Door to Get to Dallas Anymore”

Jesse Holley, a former wide receiver for the Cowboys, thinks Dallas isn’t as successful as they once were.

The Dallas Cowboys have not advanced to the NFC Championship game in the previous 28 years. The 2023 season brought the organization and its supporters even more heartache. How is that possible? The Cowboys had every resource they needed to overcome their obstacles. That, however, did not materialize.

The Cowboys let us down once more in a crucial situation. That same playoff collapse occurs repeatedly. It appears as though they have somewhat lost their lore, even though they are still considered as one of the league’s best teams.

On the most recent episode of “Bleav in The Dallas Cowboys,” former wide receiver Jesse Holley makes a hint about precisely that. Holley feels that the Cowboys no longer have the same influence over coaches and players as they formerly did.

“I don’t think the Dallas Cowboys are the same team, location, or attraction that players and coaches used to aspire to be a part of. That may still be the case, and I am aware that this is “America’s team.” Because of the fan base, the ratings for the games are consistently high, but I don’t think Dallas is anymore the place where people go to beg for players, coaches, or both.

The Cowboys have a loyal fan base that has kept them popular over the years, despite their lack of winnings to support that popularity. They haven’t had a major hit in almost 30 years, and it seems like younger generations consider them to be a thing of the past.

According to Holley, there is a good reason why coaches and players aren’t signing deals to stay in Dallas as free agents or when openings arise for coaching positions.

Many fans might not want to hear the sad truth.

The NFL’s best players, many of whom are in their mid-20s, don’t remember the Cowboys winning anything. Holley cites that as an additional explanation for their dearth of signings via free agency.

It’s not enough to be a member of the Dallas Cowboys anymore. To regain some of the wealth and lore they once enjoyed, they must continue to triumph when it counts.
