Darryl Ombang has sealed an out-of-window exit from Leeds United on a one-month initial loan deal, the Elland Road outfit confirmed.

The Whites took to Twitter on Friday (13 October) to confirm that the young keeper had penned a new deal at the club.

A one-month loan deal seems strange at this stage and if it was at least until the January window it would’ve been more sensible.

Had it gone well, they could’ve signed him for a minimal fee and if not, another club could’ve looked to secure his services.

But the fact that he’s only going for a month makes it more of a trial than a loan deal and it remains to be seen how it transpires.

Back in December, Ombang was called up to first-team training so it looked like he was taking the right moves towards making his senior debut.

However, the club feel that this is the right way for him to continue his career progression so he’ll probably be best suited to going out on loan.

With Illan Meslier still in his early 20s, if he stays at Elland Road for the foreseeable future, it’s unlikely that any of the academy kids will usurp him.
