The Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler reportedly called into work sick Saturday after spending the night at a Morgan Wallen concert the night before.
Rumors are swirling after the star forward was spotted singing along to “98 Braves” at Wallen’s concert in Truist Park, Atlanta, on Friday night, according to WhiskeyRiff. Footage of Butler was shared on social media, before he reportedly called in sick to work Saturday due to “personal reasons.”
Obviously, there’s no official confirmation Butler bailed on his game because of the concert, but that seems to be what fans think. “Jimmy butler’s ‘personal reason’ for missing the game was going to the Morgan Wallen concert? I respect it lmfao,” one Twitter user wrote.
Butler is really into country music, to the extent that it annoys his teammates, apparently. Butler even wants to record a country album himself, previously saying, “I don’t want to tell anyone who I’ve been writing with because then it’ll ruin the surprise. Now, I’m in the lab writing and producing country music. We got some real artists and songwriters.”
Butler apparently has about 45 songs ready to go, and wants to write more. He’s also hoping to join Wallen on stage one of these days to sing a line, or even an entire verse, per WhiskeyRiff. (RELATED: Diddy Comes To Defense Of Morgan Wallen After Country Superstar Used Racial Slur)
Wallen hit headlines himself in mid-November after the Grammy Awards’ latest snub. He wasn’t nominated for any of their pointless awards in 2024, despite breaking all-genre music records in 2023, as well as a slew of country records in the last 24 months.
