The Memphis Grizzlies have made a roster move
Following their loss to the Miami Heat, the Memphis Grizzlies announced that forward Jake LaRavia had been sent down to the G-League Memphis Hustle. LaRavia projected to have some opportunities at the NBA level this season with all of the injuries Memphis has dealt with, but it has been a struggle for him in his five appearances with the Grizzlies this season.
Averaging just 3.4 PPG in 12.2 MPG, LaRavia is also converting on just 35% of his field goal attempts and 16.7% of his attempts from deep. With only 40 career games at the NBA level, LaRavia will certainly have an opportunity to work through these struggles and make an impact for the Grizzlies again at some point, and this move down to the Memphis Hustle is an opportunity to get consistent reps
The Grizzlies are off to an abysmal start to the new season, winning just once in their first eight games. While a lot of this can be attributed to the absence of Ja Morant, who is of course, suspended for the first 25 games of the season, there have certainly been opportunities for Memphis to get wins that they ultimately dropped.
The return of Morant will be a huge boost, but it’s not something the Grizzlies can afford to wait on. Whether it be their established veterans or up and coming players, the Grizzlies need somebody to step up and help them win games.
