Nottingham Forest transfer news from NottinghamshireLive as former Reds goalkeeper Karl Darlow signs for a new club
Former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow has joined Leeds United from Newcastle United on a permanent deal.
Darlow arrives at Elland Road for an undisclosed fee. He has agreed a three-year contract, which will run until the summer of 2026.
The 32-year-old came through the youth ranks at Forest and went on to make more than 100 senior appearances for the club before being snapped up by Newcastle in 2014. He did return to the City Ground on loan before establishing himself with the Tyneside outfit.
Darlow made 100 appearances for Newcastle, helping them win the 2016/17 Championship title along the way. However, his first-team chances became increasingly limited and spent time on loan at Hull City last season.
He is now back in the second tier with Leeds following their relegation from the Premier League. The Whites said they had “beaten a number of clubs to secure Darlow’s services on a permanent basis”.
He is Leeds second signing of the summer transfer window following the arrival of Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea, and could make his full debut in next Sunday’s season opener against Cardiff City at Elland Road.
Newcastle said in a statement: “Everyone at St. James’ Park thanks Karl for his service and wishes him well for the future.”
Make no mistake – Nottingham Forest’s return to the Premier League was a roaring success.
Staying in the division was the aspiration and the primary goal, and it was mission successful.
