Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as a rumour linking Alexis Sanchez with a free transfer to the City Ground is clarified
A transfer expert has dismissed claims that Nottingham Forest were in talks with Alexis Sanchez over a surprise move to the City Ground.
The former Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona star is currently plying his trade in Ligue 1 with Marseille, where he scored 14 goals in 35 league games, and assisting a further three.
A shock report emerged from El Futbolero this week, claiming that Sanchez would be leaving Marseille on a free transfer this summer, and that he had already agreed a move to the Premier League with Forest.

It has now been confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano that the report is “wide of the mark”, with no talks happening between Forest and Sanchez
Clarifying the reports on his Twitter account, Romano posted to his 17 million followers: “Told rumours of Alexis Sanchez joining Nottingham Forest are wide of mark. No talks ongoing.”
Meanwhile, Forest are reportedly in advanced talks with Monaco over a move for left-back Ismail Jakobs. It comes after they missed out on Renan Lodi, who has become one of Sanchez’s teammates at Marseille.
