JUST IN: Nottingham Forest ‘submit bid’ for Brazilian defender and Jose Mourinho favourite…

The offer for the 24-year-old centre-back is said to be €25million (£21.5m), with “negotiations under way” and Forest “pushing” to sign the Brazilian.

Nottingham Forest have made an “official bid” for AS Roma defender Roger Ibañez, according to a report.

That’s according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted on Thursday evening: “EXCLUSIVE: Nottingham Forest have submitted official bid to AS Roma for Roger Ibañez, proposal worth around €25m fee. Negotiations underway to reach an agreement, Forest are pushing for Brazilian CB.”

A report from Italy last year said Ibañez had climbed the pecking order under Jose Mourinho and was one of his favourite players at the Italian club. That position could make negotiations difficult if Mourinho is just as reluctant to lose the defender.

In 33 Serie A appearances for Roma last season, Ibañez picked up 10 yellow cards and was sent off once. He was booked nine times the season before. He made headlines last month when he labelled Jose Mourinho “a bipolar coach” in a media interview.

Interestingly, Ibañez shares an agent – Giuliano Bertolucci – with Forest duo Danilo and Felipe, according to his profile on Transfermarkt. That existing relationship could make it easier for the Reds to seal a deal for the centre-back this summer.
