Nottingham Forest ran out 2-1 winners over Sheffield United at the City Ground last night.
Goals from strikers Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood secured the Reds’ first Premier League victory of the new campaign.
However, new signing Ola Aina, who put in a solid display at the Emirates last Saturday, was absent from the matchday squad yesterday.
This gave fellow right-back Neco Williams a chance to start, albeit in an out-of-position left-wing-back role.
Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham after the game last night, boss Steve Cooper confirmed that the 26-year-old missed the win with a slight injury.
“He tweaked his groin in training a couple of days ago, but it’s nothing serious.
“We gave him every chance for him to be ready, but unfortunately he fell a bit short.
“Thankfully it is nothing too serious.
“Neco came in and did well, we need a squad of players who can come in and make an instant impact. We’re working hard to try and add to the squad, if that happens then brilliant but if not we carry on as we are.”
Aina will be hoping to be back in the Nottingham Forest squad next Saturday, as Cooper takes his side to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
