JUST IN: Stoke City boss Alex Neil gushes after double Wolves transfer….

Wolverhampton Wanderers transfer news from BirminghamLive as Ki-Jana Hoever and Chiquinho make an impression at Stoke City

Wolves duo Chiquinho and Ki-Jana Hoever are set to play an important role for Stoke City after joining the Championship club on loan.

Stoke kick off their new season at home Rotherham on Saturday and it would be no surprise if full back Hoever and winger Chiquinho are in partnership down their right flank after moving to the Potteries for first team football.

Hoever, aged 21, joined Stoke on a season-long loan on July 21, the Dutch defender having impressed on a half season loan there last season when he scored four goals in 15 appearances. He was joined at Stoke on July 22 by Chiquinho, the 23-year-old Portuguese winger who is back to fitness after missing the 2022/23 campaign with the knee injury he suffered in pre-season. He had joined Wolves for £3m from Estoril in January 2022 and caught the eye in his first half season at Molineux.

The forward has played in Stoke’s last two friendlies and may have played himself into the line up for their league opener. Stoke boss Alex Neil said, in a video released by the club: “He’s quick, he’s dynamic, he’s direct. I watched him when he was playing in the Premier League and the fact that Wolves had the confidence to put him in at that level…

He was a bit unfortunate to pick up an injury but he’s been back, I believe, since the end of February. His physical data is very good, we’ve looked at that. He’s played a few games in the end of last season. He was one that was presented to us, we’ve watched his stuff and we felt he would certainly add something to us.

“We’ve spoken about a lack of wide players and different types of options and he’ll certainly provide a good option. He can probably play on both sides but I predominantly see him off the right and with Ki-Jana Hoever behind him, who’s from the same club, it could be a dangerous partnership.”
