Joe Worrall is said to be close to signing a new contract at Nottingham Forest.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon reports captain Worrall is poised to put pen to paper on a new three-year deal at the City Ground.

There have only been three new additions at Forest so far this summer, with Manchester United’s Anthony Elanga, Arsenal’s Matt Turner and free agent Ola Aina all arriving at the City Ground.

And manager Steve Cooper said no more signings are “imminent” after their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates in the Premier League on Saturday.

But tying Worrall down to new terms would be a significant boost.

“There’s nothing imminent,” Cooper told the BBC. “I have to trust the club to crack on with the work. My work is to work with the team every day, come in every day and try to get the best out of them. That’s why, at half-time, I was telling them, ‘come on, guys, you can do better than this’.

“If we are able to add, great. If not, we’ll carry on. But in my opinion, we do need to add.”
