Liverpool is looking at Southampton midfielder Roméo Lavia and André Trindade has been linked as well. Jürgen Klopp’s side needs to complete more transfers soon.
Liverpool has known for a while now that it is short of midfield options. Jürgen Klopp is heading into a new season playing a changed system with greater emphasis on attacking number eights, but still lacks a senior number six to shore things up behind them.
With both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho long gone, Liverpool needs to find a solution, but so far, its search has not been concluded. The Reds’ latest bid for Roméo Lavia, the 19-year-old Southampton starlet, was rejected.
That third offer was worth a total of $59m (£46m/€53m), Sky Sports reports, with the Saints wanting $64m (£50m/€58m) for a player they only signed from Manchester City a year ago.
Ideally, Liverpool have already got that deal done at this stage. Assuming a compromise can be reached, however — and negotiations are ongoing — then the Reds need to get it done as fast as possible from here. At this point, Lavia would almost certainly not be in contention to start or play a significant part against Chelsea anyway, so a delay of a few days will not matter
