In a recent interview, Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche revealed that he is confident of having Leeds United loanee Robin Koch for ‘many years to come
The German defender was one of Marcelo Bielsa’s first signings at Elland Road once the side were promoted back to the Premier League in 2020. The Peacocks secured his services for a reported £13 million, beating Tottenham Hotspur to his signature.
Koch was a versatile player under the Argentine coach, able to play a number of different positions, including as a holding midfielder at times when Kalvin Phillips spent long spells on the sideline through injury.
However, the former Freiburg man reportedly had a ‘relegation clause’ in his contract which forbade him from playing in the Championship, although this has been criticised as being ‘wide of the mark’ in the past by other media outlets.
Nevertheless, upon relegation to England’s second tier, Koch was sent out on loan, returning to Germany with UEFA Europa Conference League side Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Bundesliga outfit have publicly been full of admiration for the 27-year-old but now, Sporting Director Krösche has admitted that he is confident of securing a permanent deal with Leeds United for the defender.

Koch seems to be happy at home in Germany and is playing his best football since Leeds’ first season back in the Premier League so it may be in the best interest of all parties that the centre-back gets a permanent move at the end of the season.
Unfortunately for Leeds, the player’s contract runs out in 2024 so the club may lose him for free.
