JUST NOW: Cowboys supporters are angry over Tony Pollard’s new declaration of an injury requiring surgery.

After suffering a serious leg injury that prevented him from playing in the Dallas Cowboys’ playoff game against San Francisco, Tony Pollard spent the offseason recovering. Everyone then “bet on him” to fully recover. The Pro Bowl running back, who signed a one-season $10 million franchise-tag deal, has been a key component of the “Texas Coast Offense,” which quarterback Dak Prescott and head coach Mike McCarthy designed. However, it appears that he is about to move into a different gear. This week at The Star, Pollard stated, “I would say it’s a night-and-day difference,” as 10-4 Dallas prepared for a big game against 10-4 Miami on Christmas Eve. “You believe you’re doing well. You believe that you are perfect.

You begin to realize, “Oh, so I may have lost a little right there,” once you get a feel for it and establish a foothold. But the Cowboys running back said, “I’m picking it back up.

Pollard led the team in rushing yards last week with 52 on 11 carries in the team’s loss at Buffalo. It’s a nice per-carry average. The entire output? Not polite enough. Pollard was chosen to play in his first Pro Bowl after combining for 12 touchdowns on 193 carries for 1,007 yards last season while splitting time with Ezekiel Elliott. With three games to play this year? His 848 yards and five touchdowns on 207 carries indicate that he still has room to develop, possibly in time to help Dallas advance to the NFL playoffs by defeating the Miami Dolphins.
