Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe agrees with Jürgen Klopp’s observation that a particular Premier League rule change has had a greater impact on his team compared to others.
The Premier League introduced several new rules before the start of the current season, aiming to address issues such as time-wasting and players surrounding referees. One of the rule changes mandates the presence of only one coach in the technical area at any given time, which means that Howe and his assistant Jason Tindall can no longer give instructions together from the sidelines.
indall is often seen giving instructions to Newcastle’s players alongside Howe. Liverpool boss Klopp recently shared his thoughts on the change, stating: “I think it is only a problem for one team: Newcastle. Sorry!”
When asked about Klopp’s remarks, Howe admitted he was aware of what the German had said and agreed with his verdict. “I think I heard about them through various sources,” said the Magpies manager.
“I think the rules do impact us slightly more than other teams, just because of how we’ve worked historically. This hasn’t been a new thing for me and Jason, this has been for… I’ve forgotten how many years I’ve been in management.
