Premier League clubs must submit their 25-man squads to the league this Wednesday and according to the Telegraph, the 31-year-old is ‘set to fly out to join the Super Lig club on loan for the remainder of the season.’
That would bring a pause to his time at the club, with Shelvey joining earlier in January from Newcastle, agreeing a deal that will keep him at the City Ground until 2025.
His contract at St James’ Park was set to expire at the end of the 2022-23 season, with the former England midfielder failing to break into Eddie Howe‘s side at the start of the campaign, battling to return from a soft tissue injury to manage just three appearances before being sold.
The former Liverpool midfielder also admitted that he had pleaded with Howe to let him leave the club, telling his former manager that he wanted to move on to ‘have a fresh start
