Some Nottingham Forest fans would have welcomed Keinan Davis back at the club over the last few transfer windows. Now, he’s endured the worst possible start to life in Italy with Udinese.
The talisman spent the second half of 2021/22 at the City Ground. They say you should never fall in love with a loan player but supporters fell head over heels for the Aston Villa striker.
Some have been unable to let him go. Last summer when Forest chose not to sign Davis, some fans couldn’t understand why. Then again, in January, a certain section pined for the player to come to the City Ground.
Even this summer, some fans would have had him back. Quite frankly, the ones upset and continuing to be unable to let Davis seemingly go simply need a reality check and they might have got one.
According to Messagero Veneto, the player is now facing a spell on the sidelines until November with a calf problem. Furthermore, the report claims that Udinese aren’t happy with the physical condition that Davis arrived in.
Forest fans must move on from Davis
The striker earned his stripes as a Championship player at the City Ground. Davis was brilliant for Forest and scored five goals as the club roared to promotion from the second tier.
However, he’s proven himself as a Championship player. There is little evidence that Davis is capable of doing what Taiwo Awoniyi has done at Forest and kicked on as a polished Premier League centre-forward
During his career, Davis has played 34 times in the Premier League and he’s managed a single goal. Whilst it’s easy to say that his game is about more than just goals, Forest have now moved on to better players.
It’s somewhat shocking that Davis hasn’t turned up to Udinese in the best physical shape. Now, with his serious calf injury adding to his misery, the 25-year-old is already facing a fight to prove himself at his new club.
