JUST Now: Heat Announce a confirmed Roster Move for Former Warriors Starter……

Uncategorized

The Golden State Warriors announced on Friday that the team had waived Rodney McGruder and Rudy Gay. In their official announcement, the team wrote the following: “The Golden State Warriors have waived forward Rudy Gay and guard Rodney McGruder, it was announced today. Gay tallied four points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal in 15 minutes over two preseason games with Golden State. McGruder appeared in one preseason game with the Warriors, recording eight points and five rebounds in 20 minutes. Gay and McGruder originally signed with Golden State on September 28. Golden State’s roster currently stands at 16 players.” McGruder was a starter for the Miami Heat during his peak, and Rudy Gay was of course a borderline All-Star for the Memphis Grizzlies in his prime. Unfortunately for both players, there may not be an opportunity with the Warriors; however, the door is not completely shut after this move. The Warriors’ standard roster is now down to 13 players, which is what ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports the team will begin the season with. Entering the year with two empty spots, the Warriors will consider all options before rounding out their roster. The team is parting ways with both McGruder and Gay for now, and will maintain flexibility entering the new season.
