In the end, the Miami Heat didn’t make a whole lot of additions to their roster this summer, despite their attempts.
But they did get some new talent, including rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr.
Reviews about Jaquez are coming in from the rest of the Heat roster and they are very good.
Jimmy Butler loves what he sees from the incoming player, which was made evident by a quote posted by the team on Twitter.
“He just plays to win. He makes all the right plays. He kind of plays like a vet. He knows where the ball has to go and he’s confident in his abilities,” Butler said.
Jaquez played four seasons for UCLA, which means he definitely knows a thing or two about basketball.
He has more experience because he is older than most rookies.
Jaquez is 22 years old, which is a few years older than most NBA rookies.
Obviously, he is still a very young man and his extra years could be a benefit for him.
But even with his years of playing and his basketball knowledge, he will still have a lot to learn.
The good news is he is in the best place to learn it: the Heat have several celebrated veterans, a wonderful coaching staff, and NBA mastermind Pat Riley.
This is a premiere location for a young man to enhance his game and dig even deeper into the sport.
Jaquez might play to win as Butler said, but there is no guarantee we will see a lot of him in the upcoming season.
The Heat still have a stacked roster and it’s not clear if the rookie will get a lot of minutes on the floor.
But if he does, he could certainly impress.
