JUST NOW: Leeds United midfielder has received an official offer from Real Madrid ahead of the January transfer window.

Former Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been offered an escape route from Manchester City to Real Madrid.

That is according to Central Defense, who report both City and Phillips are looking at potential January destinations, with Real Madrid having been offered the chance to sign him through intermediaries.

Phillips is almost certain to leave the treble winners when the window reopens in January, with regular minutes continuing to be a struggle for him since his move from Leeds.

The 27-year-old was told he would be allowed to leave in the summer but opted to stay and fight for his place, a decision that ultimately backfired.

Despite the absence of Rodri for two matches through suspension, Phillips has yet to start a single Premier League game so far this season. He also started just twice throughout the entirety of last term, both of which came after City had already been crowned champions.

Phillips is in desperate need of regular minutes this season as he looks to cement his spot at the heart of Gareth Southgate’s midfield ahead of next summer’s European Championships in Germany.
