Darren Bent says Leicester City must ‘switch back on’ after suffering their second defeat of the season, this time against Leeds United last time out.
Enzo Maresca’s Foxes were beaten 1-0 last Friday, their first reverse in two months, when Georginio Rutter scored just before the hour. The hosts dominated possession but managed just one shot on target throughout the course of the game.
Ipswich Town dropped points at Birmingham City which left City 11 points clear of third place and still hot favourites to go straight back up to the Premier League.
“In the Championship, you never get a team from start to finish that keeps winning and winning and winning. At some stage you are going to have a blip and this might be Leicester’s.
“But they have enough of a cushion to have a little blip. For me, Leicester are still the side to beat, they are still going to be in and amongst it, I still think they will go up automatically, it’s one of those maybe not to make them refocus but just to switch back on a little bit.”
Bent’s theory will be put to the test on Saturday when Maresca takes his team to Middlesbrough to face a Boro side that have turned their season around with a run of six straight wins before dropping points against Stoke and Plymouth in their last two.
