Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick has once again predicted Leicester City will win automatic promotion this season despite his side’s 1-0 win over them at the Riverside Stadium this afternoon.
Leeds loanee Sam Greenwood scored the only goal that separated the sides. It was City’s second defeat in as many games as they failed to distance themselves from Ipswich Town in second place.
Despite recent results, Carrick believes the Foxes will make a swift return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
He said post-match: “There were chances for both teams in the first half, delighted at half-time, we had some chances again, chances to create, and obviously they came into the second half and their chances, funnily enough, seem to come from us giving the ball away which is not like us. But we were spot on as a team and defended well.
