Just Now: Liverpool are now in touch over ‘world-class’ second signing

Following news overnight of Liverpool’s surprise move for Stuttgart midfielder Wataru Endo, the Reds could now further bolster their midfield options with the addition of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

According to Fabrizio Romano, contact has been made between the clubs to discuss the conditions of the deal, although no formal bid has been made yet.

The news initially broke through Dutch outlet AD who claimed that Amrabat was set to make his an Anfield switch ‘in the coming days’, although Romano’s tone suggests the deal is not quite as advanced as that yet.

Following Liverpool’s failed pursuits of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, transfer talk has massively heated up in the past 24 hours with an array of midfielders being linked to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Fulham’s Joao Palhinha emerged as a serious target yesterday afternoon, around a similar time to the name of Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure being thrown into the mix. It is the latter who looks most likely to sign for the Reds at present if reports are anything to go by.

Much later in the evening it became apparent that 30-year-old Endo had agreed terms with the club and is now set for a medical today, though Liverpool are seemingly not done yet.

Moroccan international Amrabat starred on the World Cup stage late last year – the 26-year-old was a key figure in Walid Regragui’s side as they shocked everybody by reaching the semi-finals before losing out to France.

Regragui sang the player’s praises prior to the World Cup beginning, and he was certainly proven right.

“Trust me, Amrabat is a world-class player,” said the Morocco manager.

Klopp’s side have desperately needed to plug the gap in midfield left by departing duo Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, and after a frustrating week of scuppered deals it is now evident that they are on their way to doing just that.

Only time will tell, but this deal is definitely an exciting one to keep an eye on.
