JUST NOW: Liverpool have just outbid Chelsea in battle to sign ‘world class’ player in the window transfer…

Liverpool have just outbid Chelsea in the race to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton – although the Ecuadorian prefers a move to Stamford Bridge.

What’s the story?

Well, this is a shock development – to say the least.

Chelsea have been the only side in for Caicedo this summer, with the Blues seeing offers worth £60m, £65m, £70m and then £80m rejected by Brighton.

Now – according to Law – Liverpool have made an offer in excess of Chelsea’s £80m bid, after losing Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia.

However, Caicedo himself – who has been called a “world class” player by his old coach, Gustavo Alfaro – still has his heart set on a move to Stamford Bridge.

Law wrote: “Understand Liverpool have outbid Chelsea for Moises Caicedo which would also help explain Chelsea’s bid for Lavia. Suggestion however remains that Caicedo would prefer Chelsea move.”

Fabrizio Romano believes the 21-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea, and recently missed Brighton’s 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano after telling the Seagulls to sell him to the Blues.

Therefore – despite making the better financial offer at this stage – Liverpool still have a lot of work to do when it comes to convincing Caicedo.

Time for Chelsea to act as Liverpool outbid Blues for Caicedo

After spending the entire summer chasing Caicedo, it would be hugely embarrassing for Chelsea if Liverpool ended up signing the South American

As aforesaid, Chelsea have already convinced the Brighton No.25 to join, which is half of the battle, so it is now time for the Blues to match whatever Liverpool have offered, or better it.

As Law alludes to, Chelsea did actually bid £48m for Romeo Lavia on Wednesday night, which suggests a loss of confidence in the Caicedo deal – it could, however, have been a tactical move.

Be sure to keep an eye on this intriguing situation, as new developments are emerging on a daily basis at the moment.
