Liverpool are reportedly ‘very interested’ in signing Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara, with the French international becoming a valid target for the Reds.
According to Foot Mercato, the 23-year-old is of legitimate interest to Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp continues his search for a midfield signing.
With Wataru Endo close to joining, the Reds are now looking for a younger option to join their ranks, with Liverpool now keeping tabs on Villa’s Kamara, as well as Crystal Palace star Cheick Doucoure
As stats from Squawka show, though, the Villa Park star trumps his Selhurst Park rival in almost every metric, though Liverpool signing Kamara could prove to be a challenge.
Villa’s participation in Europe and Kamara’s role for Unai Emery’s side means it would take a mammoth bid from Liverpool to prize the French international away from the Premier League side
Indeed, Kamara would be a dream addition for the Reds, but given the finances involved in such a deal, Liverpool might be better off moving for Doucoure despite his stats compared to the Villa man.
Kamara could have been Liverpool’s perfect midfield signing
Kamara was a phenom for Villa last season having been lured to Villa Park by Steven Gerrard last summer, and at Liverpool, the 23-year-old could have been a dream signing this window.
Dynamic, young and athletic, Kamara is ideal for what Liverpool are looking for in a midfield signing this summer, though the finances that such a deal would include make a deal almost impossible to conclude.
Moreover, with Liverpool on the hunt for numerous targets, the Reds can afford to miss out on Kamara this summer, with Doucoure a perfectly fine alternative to the Villa man.
