Just Now: Nottingham Forest makes the final decisions, as Sheffield United apoint  new manager.

Sheffield United, Nottingham Forest’s Premier League rival, is reportedly planning to make their first managerial change of the year.

The Blades, who were promoted back to the Premier League the previous season, are currently bottom of the league as they struggle to adjust to life in the top division. The fact that the team has only triumphed in one of its 14 games this season has put additional strain on manager Paul Heckingbottom.

It appears that Sheffield United’s devastating 5-0 loss to Burnley, another team vying for relegation, on Saturday afternoon was the tipping point. According to a number of reports, the team plans to switch up the dugout in an effort to get the season off to a strong start.

The Blades look to be turning to a familiar face, with it said that former manager Chris Wilder is set to return to Bramall Lane. The 56-year-old has been out of work since leaving Watford back in May after just 11 matches in charge.

With Sheffield United, where Wilder led them to the Premier League in 2019, he has prior success. The following season, the team achieved safety. In March 2021, as the team was battling relegation, he was fired.

The Blades, who are chasing Luton Town in 17th place, are four points out of safety in the league. Although Nottingham Forest’s current performance may have them looking over their shoulder, they still lead the Blades by eight points and Everton by six points in 18th place.
