JUST NOW :Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper believes superstardom will come.

Nottingham Forest have told their £11million Irish signing Andrew Omobamidele that he needs to be patient as he waits his debut for the Premier League club.

Omobamidele joined Forest from Norwich City on transfer deadline day in September but he has yet to even make the bench for his new club, let alone get any game time and he’s also been an unused sub for the most recent international games.

Forest boss Steve Cooper says that he is “happy” with the Kildare native whose turn will come.

“I wanted to mention him. When young players come to a club, you have to assess them,” Cooper said of Omobamidele.

“Sometimes, through all sorts of different reasons, opportunities can present themselves at different times. We’re really happy with Andrew – that’s the thing everyone needs to know. And he has settled in really well.

“I think it’s only a matter of time before we see him, or give him the opportunity to play. But we’re really happy with him. He’s a hard-working, very serious professional, a good player. We’re really looking forward to committing to him. And he is feeling the same as well.”

Meanwhile, Hull City have thanked the Irish set-up for not calling in Aaron Connolly for the last international duty as the break allowed the Galway player to work his way back from injury.

Connolly, who is City’s top scorer this season with five goals from 11 league games, was named in the initial squad by Stephen Kenny for the Greece/Gibraltar double header but was then withdrawn due to an injury that has now cleared up. Connolly is in the frame to face Southampton tomorrow.

“Aaron’s good. He came through that injury, thankfully, and I really respect Ireland for giving us the time to get Aaron to one hundred per cent with his toe but he’s fully fit and ready to go,” manager Liam Rosenior said.

“It was just soreness. I didn’t start him against Millwall, he felt it a touch because it was bruised. We felt it was best for him to rest it, he’s got the rest in, he’s iced it and he’s good to go.”
