JUST NOW :The £50 million loan defender is finally signed by Leeds United on permanent terms.

Leeds United must make a permanent move for Joe Rodon after the on-loan defender put in an “outstanding” display in the 2-1 victory against Plymouth on Saturday 11 November.

Rodon was imperious in the air and proved his worth in a week when The Athletic journalist Phil Hay claimed the Yorkshire side could explore the possibility of a permanent move, although Spurs asked for £50million. [The Square Ball, 9 November]

Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross lauded his performance, singling him out for praise following the game, claiming he dealt with everything Plymouth sent into the Leeds box

Rodon was a rock in the heart of Leeds’ defence alongside captain Liam Cooper, and the Welshman was often the more dominant of the two as he showed his value to Daniel Farke’s side, which could tempt them into a permanent move.

His ground duel success rate of 100% from four attempts, plus a 75% success rate in the air, was proof of his domination in competition with the opposition forwards as they simply could not beat him.

On top of that, Rodon made seven clearances, four tackles, two interceptions and blocked one shot in a commanding show at the back, while his 117 passes showed how key he is to Farke’s style of building and playing the ball out from defence.
