JUST NOW: The Cowboys have officially sealed a playoff spot just minutes before kickoff in Buffalo.

The Cowboys have officially confirmed themselves of a playoff spot just a few seconds before kickoff in Buffalo.

One preseason objective can be completed by the Cowboys even before kickoff on Sunday at Highmark Stadium.

Whatever happens in the Cowboys vs. Bills game, the Cowboys have formally secured a postseason berth.

Obviously, entering the seven-team field isn’t the only objective at this point. With a 10-3 record, Dallas is currently tied for first place in the NFC East with the Eagles and 49ers. The ultimate objective for the Cowboys is to win the division and earn the No. 1 overall seed in the playoffs, which entitles them to a first-round bye.

The Vikings’ loss on Saturday and the Packers’ loss combined to send Dallas to the postseason.

There were fourteen different ways to get the Cowboys into the postseason before the game that didn’t require Dallas to win. But if the Cowboys won against the Bills on Sunday, they would have qualified for the postseason. They’re currently in either case, but naturally they want to continue to compete for the conference’s top seeds.
