The Los Angeles Lakers are eager to win right now, but to what extent? This will be put to the test throughout the winter, as the Lakers may try to acquire one of the three Bulls players who are ready to win right away: Alex Caruso, Zach LaVine, or DeMar DeRozan. Sadly, according to Sam Amick’s most recent report for The Athletic, Alex Caruso is what the Bulls want in any trade the Lakers attempt with them.
“The Lakers, who are rumored to be interested in Alex Caruso and DeMar DeRozan of the Bulls (as well as Zach LaVine), will probably ask Chicago for Austin Reaves (who can’t be traded until January 15).” However, it appears that the Lakers are still fully committed to Reaves.
When it comes to identifying trade offers for players who will strengthen their team without sacrificing any significant rotational pieces, the Lakers are hitting dead ends. They will probably wait for a deal similar to the one they received for Russell Westbrook last season, when they traded him for three rotational players and a pick. If they look outside of Chicago, there are many options available, but nothing in the NBA is simple.
