The president of the Miami Heat is reportedly keeping an eye on a potential trade for a Grizzlies player.
The Memphis Grizzlies may have one of the worst records in the Western Conference, but that isn’t any kind of representation of the players on the team. In fact, there are multiple very attractive pieces on the Grizzlies, according to miami executives.
According to a report from Michael Scotto from Hoopshype, NBA executives are monitoring two Grizzlies players for trades – Luke Kennard and John Konchar. In the case of John Konchar, the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, and Los Angeles Lakers are monitoring him.
Luke Kennard may be injured right now, but before his injury, he was averaging 8.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists on 36/37/100 shooting. It’s been a very weak season thus far for Kennard, whose career averages are 9.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists on 45/44/88 shooting. Any team in the NBA could use his three-point shooting, but especially any contending teams.
John Konchar is currently averaging 3.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists on 35/32/50 shooting. Similar to Kennard, Konchar’s numbers are a downgrade from his career numbers, most likely because of how injury-ravaged the Memphis Grizzlies are.
Even if rival executives are monitoring players on the Grizzlies, Memphis shouldn’t be looking to give anyone up just quite yet. This team has been so ravaged by injuries that it wouldn’t be fair to judge what they’re capable of until Morant and a few other pieces come back.
