The trade story of NBA star Damian Lillard is still going on, and according to Marc Stein of The SteinLine, the Toronto Raptors have shown interest in acquiring the seven-time NBA All-Star.

After asking to be traded from the Portland Trail Blazers and the Trail Blazers responding that they would accept the best offer regardless of the destination, Lillard has indicated his desire to be traded to the Miami Heat.

Despite having played for Portland for his entire 11-year career, Lillard reportedly asked the team for a move this offseason.

According to Marc Stein and his article, “The Toronto Raptors have convinced numerous teams around the league that their interest in trading for Lillard is genuine

The uncertainty at this point stems more from gauging Toronto’s true willingness to push all the way forward with its Lillard pursuit when it’s believed the All-Star guard, behind the scenes, remains resistant to the idea of becoming a Raptor.”

In 2018, the Toronto Raptors acquired Kawhi Leonard. Even though Leonard only spent one season in Toronto, the Raptors won the 2019 NBA Championship under his leadership.

Given their abundance of young, quality players, the Raptors would likely be able to offer the Portland Trail Blazers a much stronger deal for Lillard than the Miami Heat.
