Another player on the brink of moving to Saudi Arabia is Fabinho, with Liverpool having accepted a £40m fee for the Brazil international from Saudi champions Al-Ittihad.
The 29-year-old wasn’t part of the Reds training camp in Germany as the details of the deal were thrashed out, and isn’t expected to jet out with the Liverpool squad to Singapore given his move to the Middle East is imminent.
Liverpool, though, will hope to at least partly address the subsequent lack of options in defensive midfield by signing Belgium international Romeo Lavia from Southampton.
