Manchester City’s £40 million offer for Gray and Gorman has finally been accepted by Leeds United.

Manchester City’s move for rising star Finley Gorman has moved a step closer to completion, according to the latest report. Football Insider claim Leeds United will bank £1.5 million for the 15-year-old following months of negotiations.

While Leeds will no doubt be disappointed to lose one of the academy’s brightest stars, this figure would represent a record fee for a player of Gorman’s age. The attacking midfielder’s displays at under-18 level have attracted attention on social media, but the Whites were unable to tie him down on a professional contract until his 17th birthday.

Away from Gorman, Archie Gray is another academy talent who has caught the eye this season. The talented Leeds teenager has stepped up and become a first-team regular under Daniel Farke this season.

The England under-19 international’s form was said to have attracted attention from Liverpool, with a recent report suggesting the Reds would be willing to spend around £40m to land the versatile midfielder. However, GOAL journalist Neil Jones has cast doubt on whether Jurgen Klopp’s side would be willing to splash this sum on Gray.

Jones told Redmen TV via Leeds United News: “£40m seems like a huge fee. I think there’s a bit of that at play with agents putting clubs in, we’ve seen Liverpool used in the past. Liverpool would be aware of any 17-year-old making waves in any league.

“It’s an interesting player, but I would be amazed if Liverpool spend £40m on a 17-year-old at this point unless they were convinced he was the best young player in the country.”
