Kaizer Chiefs will focus plenty of their attention this winter on finding a new manager, but more drastic changes are required.
DO KAIZER CHIEFS NEED A NEW OWNERSHIP STRUCTURE?
Here’s the situation explained by Goal:
“In 2010, Chiefs founder and chairman Kaizer Motaung Snr. bought back the 40% stake he sold to Primedia back in 1999 and since then, Amakhosi sold 35% of their shares to Dr. Mike Nkuna, who was rumoured to be keen on acquiring more shares to become the majority shareholder. However, the medical doctor rebuffed those claims.”
Would a change in their ownership structure translate into a change in their fortunes on the pitch? There is the school of thought that a level of nepotism runs through the organisation with Kaizer Motaung’s children all holding powerful positions at the club. Could a reshuffle in that area bring in fresh ideas? Just a thought. Mr Motaung isn’t letting go any time soon, but he’s got to realise that big changes are needed because things aren’t working right now.
