After two seasons of poor goalkeeping, Kaizer Chiefs are looking to add a prolific striker to their lineup.
Prior to the upcoming season, it is thought that the Chiefs have already begun selecting and working on player targets.
The recruitment of a striker by the end of the season will be Chiefs’ top priority, according to a February story from this newspaper. Given that the team added Jason Gonzales and Ranga Chivaviro at the start of the season, that may come as a surprise. Unfortunately, neither of them has yet had the expected impact, nor has the club management.
For the Chiefs, Chivaviro has only scored two goals thus far. But those are two more than Gonzalez, another recent addition to the striker lineup who hasn’t scored yet. Despite arriving in the nation with a stellar goal-scoring record, the Colombian has encountered difficulties. In his 13 games with Amakhosi, he has failed to find the back of the net.
Therefore, news that the Chiefs would be parting ways with Gonzales earlier this year was not shocking. However, Soccer-Laduma reports that Amakhosi is prepared to reexamine their interest in Iqraam Rayners, a striker for Bafana Bafana, during the upcoming transfer window!
