Kyle Lowry’s 76ers debut ends in unexpected fashion after Miami Heat trade

On Thursday night, Kyle Lowry made his Philadelphia 76ers debut in his hometown and ultimately left the game following a violent altercation with center Jericho Sims of the New York Knicks. Early in the second quarter, Lowry drove to the basket and was viciously elbowed in the face by the enormous center.

As the club posted on X/Twitter, the arena’s audience showered the native of North Philadelphia with a standing ovation as he arrived for the game in the first quarter.It was early in the second quarter and Lowry was driving to the hoop with authority, giving 76ers fans a taste of that precise kind of playoff energy. According to New York Basketball, Sims attempted a block after making a shot at the rim and inadvertently struck Lowry’s forehead with force.In terms of the game’s outcome, the 76ers were unable to stem the flow of blood on the scoreboard, falling to the Knicks 110-96. Thankfully, Lowry was able to speak following the game and reminisce about his unforgettable debut, which was highlighted by his 11 points on the evening.
