Kylian Mbappe’s give reason for Liverpool transfer decision

Liverpool are hoping to convince Kylian Mbappe to join them on loan as PSG continue their efforts to cash in the striker now rather than losing him as a free agent next summer

Six years after missing out on a deal for Kylian Mbappe, Liverpool are pursuing the Frenchman’s signature once again.

The Reds have emerged from nowhere as a potential destination for Mbappe, who looks set to be moved on by Paris Saint-Germain this summer after refusing to commit his future to the club beyond next year.

Mbappe, 24, is able to leave the Parc des Princes as a free agent in 2024 per the terms of the contract he signed last summer. And with PSG looking to cash in on their star striker while they can, Mirror Football revealed on Saturday that Liverpool are trying to broker a stunning loan deal with the French giants that would see Mbappe spend the 2023/24 campaign at Anfield

A season-long deal would still allow Mbappe to complete a dream switch to the Bernabeu next summer if he wishes to do so – and the striker is known to be an admirer of Reds chief Jurgen Klopp.

Back in 2017, Klopp and Liverpool launched a huge charm offensive in a bid to lure Mbappe to Anfield once it became clear that the forward had outgrown Monaco. However, it was claimed at the time by The Telegraph that Mbappe chose PSG instead because the Reds were unable to convince him that joining them was the best move for his career.

Liverpool have even been linked with Mbappe since then. Prior to signing a new contract last summer, the PSG ace heavily implied that he would be open to the possibility of taking on a new challenge outside of France.

“This is a very important moment for me, I am arriving at maybe the first or second turning point in my career,” Mbappe said after being crowned Ligue 1 Player of the Year back in 2019.
