The Los Angeles Lakers, who had been on a two-game winning streak, lost their steam on Wednesday night when they were defeated 120–1076 on the road by their Pacific division opponents, the Sacramento Kings. Following the game, Los Angeles head coach Darvin Ham shared with LeBron James and the Lakers what he told them about the defeat and some advise (source: Lakers Nation).

“You need to reassess and attempt to play in the proper manner, working as a team rather than trying to motivate yourself on an individual basis.”

Following the Kings’ loss, Darvin Ham offers counsel to the Lakers.
In order to defeat a club like the Kings, the Lakers needed to be at their best, and they were not. The Purple & Gold were led by Austin Reaves with 28 points, but Anthony Davis and LeBron James, the Lakers’ two best players, did not play up to pace. In contrast, the four-time league Most Valuable Player scored just 18 points on 6-for-16 shooting from the field, while Davis scored 22 points on 18 attempts from the field.

The Lakers’ inability to contain Sacramento’s big guns made the situation worse. Domantas SabonisFor what it’s worth, the Lakers made 38 field goals on 25 assists, while the Kings made 46 field goals and distributed 30 assists. The Lakers spent most of the second half trying to catch up to the Kings, which resulted in some poor decisions as Los Angeles was always looking for quick fixes on offense on the floor instead of developing rhythm by moving the ball around. Based on what Ham said, he was not satisfied with how his players approached the game.
