LATEST NEWS : Mohamed Salah successor list amid last-minute discussions To remain at Liverpool….

Darwin Núñez was the hero for Liverpool against Newcastle, but Mohamed Salah was also on hand to give a reminder about his continued importance. Jürgen Klopp and the club hierarchy did not need their memory jogged, with the manager declaring after the match that any question of a transfer has gone away in his eyes, but the pinpoint assist for the winning goal could hardly have been timed any better.

Salah now has a goal involvement in each of his last nine games for Liverpool in the Premier League, and in 11 of the last 12. He is a paragon of consistency.

Yet Klopp declaring the matter closed will not be enough to stop transfer speculation. Especially with the Saudi window due to stay open beyond the European deadline of September 1, this matter will not be completely closed any time soon.

And regardless of the public stance on Salah, one report claims Liverpool is making plans for the eventuality that the Egyptian does leave for Saudi Arabia. A new name has appeared on the list of potential replacements.

Meanwhile, the Reds could still be active on the incoming front regardless of what happens with Salah, with discussions ongoing. Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Jarrod Bowen (West Ham)

Liverpool is ‘adamant’ it will not sell Salah, especially this close to the end of the window, claims Football Transfers. At the same time, however, it has placed Jarrod Bowen on a list of potential replacements.

Bowen would be targeted if Salah leaves during ‘this window’, in what would be a blockbuster final few days of transfer action. Liverpool would need to sell the Egyptian imminently in order to be able to replace him at all — the deadline for European clubs is September 1, while Saudi clubs can conduct signings for a longer period.

All in all, it seems deeply unlikely that Liverpool will need to visit its list of potential Salah heirs in the next couple of days. But as a left-footer who likes to cut in off the right, Bowen has long since looked like a plausible option in that position.
