Latest Update:Jerry Jones reportedly informs the Dallas Cowboys on rumors about a potential Mike McCarthy extension.

Since Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys hired Mike McCarthy as their head coach in 2020, there has been much discussion about McCarthy’s future in that role. Any season that ends without winning the Super Bowl is viewed as a disappointment for a franchise that has high expectations every single year.

McCarthy has guided the Cowboys to consistent postseason contention, even though they haven’t yet advanced to the big stage. America’s Team is making it to the postseason for the third consecutive year, and if things go their way, they may even win the NFC this season.

That being said, given the team’s continuous progress under McCarthy, Jones was recently questioned about McCarthy’s prospects for a contract extension. McCarthy’s contract expires in 2023, and an extension discussion is overdue. He has two years left on it.

However, Jones declined to directly respond when asked if McCarthy will have his contract extended. However, he was all praise for him, suggesting that he is pleased with the experienced tactician’s performance thus far.

He has, in fact, coached three consecutive playoff teams. I believe he did a fantastic job. Jerry Jones said to Shan and RJ on 105.3 The Fan, “I think he’s as high or a higher stead than when he was the walk-around coach because he’s both your offensive coordinator and your head coach.”

“Everything about those things is good. “You got us in this spot to be as disappointed as we are about the Buffalo deal and our loss there,” I told the staff quite bluntly yesterday. It’s your fault because you guys have worked so hard this season to raise our team to the level that we, the fans, and everyone else

Mike McCarthy appears to be receiving a well-deserved extension. However, anything can happen in the NFL, and a Super Bowl victory might be the only thing that determines McCarthy’s status as Dallas’ head coach going forward.

There’s still a lot that could happen in the 2023 season, so it’s likely that Jones is simply trying to avoid saying anything that could lead to rumors or be misinterpreted.
