The Maple Leafs have already taken action by signing defenseman Philippe Myers to a two-year contract extension worth $1.7 million. Myers, 27, has contributed two assists in 11 games this season, averaging 17:08 of ice time. His experience, with 38 points over 169 NHL games, adds valuable depth to Toronto’s defensive lineup.

Forward Steven Lorentz, 27, has recorded four goals and three assists over 38 games this season. His consistent performance makes him a candidate for an extension, potentially securing his role as a reliable bottom-six forward.

Veteran winger Max Pacioretty, 36, brings significant experience and scoring ability to the team. His performance this season will be crucial in determining whether the Maple Leafs pursue an extension to maintain veteran presence and offensive depth.

Connor Dewar, 25, has been a versatile forward for Toronto. His adaptability and work ethic could make him a valuable asset for the team’s future plans, depending on his contributions throughout the remainder of the season.

Nick Robertson, 23, is a promising young forward with potential to become a key offensive contributor. His development and performance this season will influence the team’s decision on offering a long-term extension to secure his talents.

Defenseman Jani Hakanpää, 32, known for his physical play and defensive reliability, adds depth to the Maple Leafs’ blue line. His role in the team’s defensive strategies will be assessed to determine the value of a potential extension.

General Manager Brad Treliving faces important decisions regarding these players. Balancing immediate team needs with long-term salary cap considerations will be essential. The team’s performance leading up to the trade deadline and the contributions of these players will significantly impact extension negotiations.

In addition to player contracts, the Maple Leafs have secured Head Coach Sheldon Keefe with a multi-year extension, ensuring stability in the coaching staff.

As the season progresses, the Maple Leafs’ management will continue to evaluate these players’ performances to make informed decisions on contract extensions, aiming to build a roster capable of sustained success.
